maesai and back in a day

    wow what a day wednesday.

we set off at around 5.20 am in the end. by 6.30 we were up in the mountains and chilled to the bone, having to stop at a shop to by gloves and a balaclava for Boon, made him look like a bank robber:). we made a few stops on the way including Pong Nam Ron Hot springs where we watched the sunrise.

narrowly missed the riding licensce check point set up in Chiang Rai, i'd forgot to take mine, and made it to Maesai by just before midday.

the visa run went smoothly and choosing to go straight back, instead of the usual hour in Burma, it was all done in 20 mins.

before heading back we went up to the Scorpion viewing point where you look over Ta Ki lahk, the Burmese town on the other side of the border. some amazing views.

we also called in at Atits wifes mothers, and had a rest , chat , oranges and a cigarette from their own tobacco plant, before heading home.

made  a few rest stops on the way back to, food just before Chiang Rai and watched some rural thais making a new hut at a later stop at a roadside shelter.

made it back to Pong Nam Ron in time for sunset and got home shattered just before 8. i was in bed and asleep by 9.30.

next time i will make it an overnighter. it was fun but just too much really in one day.

    San Kampang Sunday

another nice day yesterday. finished off my pages for my website before putting them onto the remote site for ian to check. then i got a call from Boon saying that his family had gone to the hot springs at San Kampang, so he came home and we went to join them.
after a nice afternoon there we got back in time for me to have another nice cghat with mum , who has now got a headset to go with her cam, and it was much better this week. really good aspect of the internet:)
we had our hours badminton before going in to Wat Suan Dok where they were having 'by luang' which is a celebration to bless a new building. they have just completed a very nice looking accomadation block for the monks and novices there.
nearly forgot, on the way home from San Kampang, we spotted some red ant harvesters, collecting red ants and there eggs, which are apparently a bit of a delicacy with rural Thais. we stopped and bought 50 bahts worth, that are now in our fridge waiting to taste:)

    getting to grips with it

so, march..ing on.i'm finally getting to grips with dreamweaver and have saved 12 pages of my travel logs for posting on my website, once i've had my online lessons on how to link them altogether. its mostly all i've ben doing since last entry. had a really good morning at it this morning tho and this afternoon boon and i both laid of work and went into town, first to central, where boon bought a couple more books and then to the huay kaow fitness park to chillout amongst the trees. tghen it was back home to go play an hours badminton down at the sports ground. thats something we've been doing for the last three days, great fun and getting me fit. this evening we went to the restaurant at the edge of the village where they have satellite tv and watched Liverpool unfairly beaten by Man United , and had some great food, swilled down with some Leo beer and now i'm ready for bed.
